The movie the X-Men are watching is The Mark of Zorro, 1940.

Dave Cockrum did some amazing stuff, and I will always cherish him for X-Men 98, which introduced me to my favorite team and The Sentinels, my favorite enemies.

Heartbreaking news. A good man, an excellent artist.

He will be missed.

I was caught completely off guard by this sad news.

My very best to Mr. Cockrum's wife, friends and family. I hope the fact that he was loved so much by so many strangers will provide his loved ones with some measure of comfort, no matter how small.

RIP.

One of my fav artists growing up. His work never dissapointed and was a delight to look at. I regret never having the chance to meet the man. He'll be missed.

My heart sank when I saw this thread's title. Mr. Cockrum was such a favorite of mine as a kid. His Legion (in a back-up story inked by Murphy Anderson) was my first exposure to Superboy's 30th Century teammates. I loved the Futurians and, of course, his X-Men work.

My sincerest condolences to his family and friends, and my thanks to Dave Cockrum for the countless hours of pure entertainment and joy I found in his work. R.I.P.

Wow. Just found this out. I didn't immediately love Dave's work since I was first introduced to it during his second "X=Men" stint and so, for a long time in my adolescent mind, he was simply "the guy who replaced Byrne." But was with a lot of other comics legends (Kirby, Infantino), as I arguably matured and grew, the greatness of their work eventually became more and more obvious. I'm glad I had a chance to experience it. It enriched my life. Peace.

RIP. I remember sitting next to Dave at a small show in Rockland County about eight or nine years ago. We spoke about his old Avengers comics and I watched him draw some commissions. He was a really nice man. So young... My thoughts go to his family.
