I have a hard time believing it, despite knowing that he's been ill for quite some time.  The words "Too soon" definitely apply here.

Not the news I expected when I logged in today.  When I was a kid my parents would take me to the mall and I always made a bee line to Walden Books so I could look at the Futurians graphic novel.  It took me some time to stash enough money to finally purchase it, but I never passed up a chance to study the brilliant artwork within.  That was before I ever knew who Dave Cockrum was.  Now I'll never forget him. RIP.

Very sad news indeed. Dave Cockrum leaves a remarkable legacy in his incredible body of work that will live on in the memories of his fans for a long time to come.

Very sad to hear the news. I have no words. If I can muster any words of value, it's to say that the Cockrum family have my condolences, and my thoughts are with them in this difficult time. Dave Cockrum was a great comic book artist with a significant contribution. He will be missed.
