He was a strong, funny and wonderful human being I loved dearly.  I had conversations with him along with his beautiful wife.  I will miss him.

   Cockrum was one of my fav artist when I was Hanged on comics. I will never forget him. Thanks, Dave!

From having worked in newspapers, the AP often provides a suggested headline, which this may have been. I'm pretty disgusted.

To say nothing of the fact that Mr. Cockrum is described as a "comic," or the aforementioned crass focus on what he was wearing when he passed away.

Here's few of the reasons we're here reading this thread.

This was the page that made me an X-Men fan, a Sentinels fan, a Wolverine fan, a Chris Claremont fan, and a Dave Cockrum fan all in one.  From the first issue of X-Men I ever read, #98

From earlier in the issue.  Beautiful move, indeed.
