Is it possible to publish your works for private collectors?

***

I know other artists have done this, but I think they are on shaky grounds, legally. What protects these pieces from charges of copyright infringement is that they are one-of items, not for reproduction. In the eyes of the law, it's the physical artwork that's being sold, not the copyrighted characters.

Publishing a book would cross that line, it seems to me.

JB, you've expressed reticence about writing a monthly Batman book...but if you were offered a monthly assignment as "art monkey" (a term you've used to describe yourself before, so no one needs to get on me for invoking it, thank you very much), you'd at least consider it, wouldn't you?

I'm confident that DC Comics could expect an increase in revenue if such an arrangement were to be made.

Or does the forum disagree?

I'd love to see JB do a stint on Detective with Paul Dini.

Matt, you're up early, and you're in complete accordance with my line of thinking.

I'm happy twice over.

I'd buy a Batman book handled by any of those creative pairings.

What about Aaln Grant and John Byrne on Batman, or even Steve Englehart and John Byrne?

While we're at it DC should get their finger out and bring back Norm Breyfogle to Batman!!
