Dave, as far as I know, this thread is for monthly challanges imposed by us the fans, and thankfully there's no deadline, (though we do have to hold our pieces until the due date)
The JB challanges are by JB himself, and he imposes the same rules as if it was a professional submission, deadline and all. We don't finish in time, we fail the challange. You're not alone btw, I missed the last one too .

I made the last one and posted a cover with the pages not knowing that any deviation from the assignement would result in being removed. So I was told we can post here. I put mine up last week and noone has deleted it yet.

Still no scanner-- and no real inking chops-- but here's the finished version of that sketch I posted a few moons ago.

Mark- that looks great! I was hoping you didn't abandon this drawing. Just a couple days until posting time!

Thanks, Greg. I wish I could have gotten Steve Gumm to ink it, I think it may have turned out like I pictured it.

Mark that is a sweet pic. I don't know if the shading is working all the way through. I can't really see the effects of the strong light the lighthouse would be giving. I think the composition and concept is really great.

I agree Stephen. Reducing it reveals all sorts of flaws-- especially the inking. I jumped on it one more time to simplify the shading/"up" the contrast. It's gotten better. I'll post an honest scan (instead of digi-photo) when I can.
(Thanks for the compliment!)

Mark- I'm so glad you finished that Batman piece, it looks way cool! Thanks for the kind words on my inking, too!
Greg- Good work, I instantly caught that Paul Smith vibe. In my opinion, Paul's run on the X-Men was second only to John's.
Stephen- Good job, for someone to come in late in the game on this thread you've really been going all out. I like your scenes with Kitty, I think you got some nice emotions going between the two. I also really like the central Colossus on the second one.
My piece is about 2/3 inked. I'll post it when it done (hopefully this week).

Mark - This piece is excellent! I keep coming back to look at it.
Greg- Right on with Cyclops! That brood is awesome.
Stephen- Wonderful work, especially the composition and color.
Real life has caught up with me but I hope to have my monthly in a day or two.
