Thanks for the compliments guys.

Greg, my inks would look a lot more like Austin if I could get that darn nib to cooperate ;0)  His inks are magical to me. I couldn't afford a Byrne/Austin X-Men page but, I have bought an early Legion page of his just to study his inks, it blows my mind how talented he is.

Great work, Steve! I love how you got more of the characters involved and your work looks really sharp!

I guess it's either Rich or Darren's turn to assign the next project, we're ready and awaiting our orders..

Personally, I'd love to see more participation on the next one, remember it doesn't have to be inked, just pencils are fine. I loved the mix of styles and experience levels on JB's first challenge. So, don't be shy, throw you hat in the ring on the next one... lets shoot for getting 5 to 10 folks participating on the next challenge.

I agree with Steve. It would be great to see more people try their hand at this project.

Glad you're in Mark. The project should be assigned at the first of January.

I'm thrilled to discover this thread. These kinds of drawings are something I can no longer do with my friends and really miss-- I used to draw this kind of thing all the time.  But now all my friends are grown-up-- just when I've actually become good enough to draw pretty much what I want to draw.

Unfortunately with everything that has gone on with the holidays, possible impending divorce and pissed off students complaining about their grades my idea never got past the layout stage, altho I may yet finish and post later.

If it is my turn to present an image idea I do have one ready to go. Just give me a signal...hint...hint...

If Darren doesn't want to claim the assigning of the next project, I'd say you can posted it at midnight, in whichever timezone you wish... Heck, I bet it's already midnight somewhere ;0)

In all seriousness, I'm sorry to hear about the impending divorce, hope you guys manage to work it out.

Ok here it is...The Untold Legend of the Batman, which I believe was JB's first published DC story and our first dip into the DC universe. I'm a big fan of Batman and also of democracy and freedom of choice so I give you 2 images to choose from.

The first image deals with Bruce seeing his father outfitted for a costume ball in something which pre-Crisis, inspired the Batman's costume. Altho the image here is fine, I always felt that it should have been more striking, not necessarily terrifying, but something that would burn the image into Bruce's mind to later be used as a model to "strike fear into the hearts of criminals". The costume could be changed, the stance. anything that you feel would be memorible.

The second image (which can be seen in color in Gerry Turnbull's post) is a custmonmary layout which deals with a portion character's history, this one dealing with Batman's villians. For this one you need not stay with the villian aspect you could do something similar with allies or a defining moment. The big key here is make it fun, just as JB did with Robin ducking behind the Joker in order to trip him up.

And there you have it. I haven't "seen" Darren around in a while (hope everything's ok with him), so I'll say that the "assignment" is due on January 31, if no one has any objections.

Interesting choice Rich!

I have the inkling of a concept...we'll see how that goes!

Sorry I missed that last one, just plain ran out of limbs to do the work in the time...poor show on my part!

Great work from Steve & Marcus though!

My plan was a little more 'literal' than you guys but mine never made it beyond thumbnails...grrr
