I don't want to see Frank Miller on anything not creator-owned again.

I've talked about this in Chat the last couple of nights, so I thought I'd mention it here. While I figured the rumor wasn't true, I'm still a bit disappointed. Not just because I'd like to see JB return to Marvel, but because I'd like to see artists like JB, Perez, Simonson, etc., work with writers like Bendis, Millar, and Ellis. I think if they did so either as co-plotters, or as someone else mentioned, working with the Marvel-method, those artists could be a positive influence on the books. After all, JB and Claremont were apparently pretty far apart on where to take the X-Men, and that collaboration resulted in some of the best comics Marvel's ever put out.

Still a lot of love for Mr Byrne out there!"
Which is why it's so hard to understand why there aren't more TPBs of just about everything JB's done for both DC and Marvel out on the market. Not to mention, no on-going title by JB at the moment.
Then again, much as I'd love an on-going JB title at either DC or Marvel (preferrably the latter), I'd most of all like to see JB continuing with Next Men and Danger Unlimited. JB unhampered by company policies, in a sense. [Though obviously hampered by the market since the books aren't there. :( ]

You all aren't taking into account that "fan favorite" in today's parlance is somebody like Liefeld.
As far as George Perez is concerned, he wouldn't be caught dead at the Other, would he? His style wouldn't fit AT ALL with Marveless' current regime.

It's probably John Romita, Jr.

J.R. Jr. is my guess, as well. And I'm happy anytime he gets work, especially when it's Spider-Man.

JRjr would be a great choice. It'd be interesting to see how he'd adjust to drawing a much younger Spider-Man cast. I'd also like to see Tom Grummett or Mike Weiringo.

Regardless of who takes over as artist, I'm going to be sad to see Mark Bagley go. I just read USM #100 yesterday, and it's simply incredible artwork, probably the best he's ever done.

As great as all these runs were, you can't live in the past.
While I'm all for new talent and moving forward, Marvel in its present state is wholly unrecognizable. Better to have "retreads" that are faithful to the core Marvel characters and concepts than "new ideas" that utterly betray the first 30-odd years of the company's existence.

I'm coming to the conclusion that it is sometimes better to just walk away and give up the ghost. I probably spend more money collecting or re-collecting old stories I liked than buying new stuff anyway.

As much as I like J.R. Jr.'s work, it would not be an enticement for me to buy Ultimate SM.
