Rance;
I apologize that my opinion, and how I stated it, has caused you upset.
I do not apologize for my refusal to use idiotic shorthand (such as a
'winky') to convey that my comment "the crap that you're currently
reading" was, yes, intended to be a good-natured dig at someone, who in
a number of threads, has expressed his love for that line of comics.
I do feel badly for not realizing that the opposition that you have faced in
that area may be a sensitive area for you and would cause you to be so
hurt.
Please accept my apology for any hurt or undue stress I have caused.
---
Brendan;
I agree with you right up until the "therefore insulting anyone with a
contrary opinion" part.
My assessment of the Ultimates line as crap is indeed blaming the
external object. It is then, by extension, blaming the creative and
publishing forces behind it.
It is not, however, blaming anyone who finds it to their liking. Just
because I strongly feel it's crap doesn't mean that others aren't welcome
to enjoy it! Just don't get upset that I think it's crap, that's all! I'm
certainly not feeling insulted by those who enjoy it, and neither should
they feel insulted that I don't.
An opinion in and of itself is harmless. How people react to it is not
within the control of the opiner. But we'd be a pretty poor world if we
weren't out there actively sharing opinions!
---
Jason:
OK -- now you have to post an avatar of yourself in your hobo playoff
beard!

- In all fairness too Rance, Al did *start* it. -
My avatar is from my favourite issue of Justice League of America, whose number I don't recall. Its where the JLA fights those alien warlords that have returned for the dead from their origin story- regardless, it has this amazing Joe Kubert illustrated part with Hawkman versus Superman, and Superman smashes Hawkman's mace with a single blow. I just scanned that page and capped Superman for my Icon.
I've also had Captain Marvel Jr. and Kyle Raynor Green Lantern as Icons as well.

You're right, Rey, I did give him a nudge.
I used to have that issue of JLA from your Avatar! It was awesome. Kubert's
art on that blew me away!
Excellent avatar choice, Rey!

I know, I wish I remebered the number. It was a back issue long before I picked it up.
Thanks Al! I like yours too, but I always lean real close into the speakers when I see it- I feel like he's saying something to me...

This was a favorite JB cover (Wolverine #23), so I went with it: http://www.artofjohnbyrne.com/cover-wlv/images/w23.jpg

The main character, Rob, from my upcoming Image comic, Strongarm. He's in the process of being attacked by an extremely vicious artificial intelligence and it's making him feel ... rather inconvenienced.

My avatar is the Incredible Ink (Wally) icon. It's supposed to be a cartoon version of myself as a kid. I used to have a huge curly 'fro that was perfect for holding pencils.

I closely resemble the personality traits of my avatar, combined with a sense of humor from watching a lot of Laurel & Hardy, and the Marx Brothers. Michael Palin would also be a good fit.

Mine is of course the Comics Code Authority stamp. At least they approve of what I'm doing.
