Who's Jack Straw? Pardon the ignorance of this mad li'l Swede?

he is one of our most left wing and Muslim friendly MP's who is in trouble for saying that Muslim women who totally cover the face with a burka can be difficult to read in conversation. Needless to say condemnation from 'community leaders' soon followed

I just created this one yesterday. Just because I am a big fan of Green Lantern. Currently this is the fourth Avatar I've used on the JB forum. I used a pic of my daughter for a long time but she has grown much since the pic was taken. I'll probably change this avatar too. So chances are if you're reading this post a couple of days/weeks/months from now you'll be seeing something different...

MIne changes a lot, but it's often been Blinky the three-eyed fish, a Space-Marine's shoulder pauldron, or a picture of the Reed Richards of Counter-Earth. Oh, and Adam Warlock...and Amber Peaches, and.....

I've just kept the Sgt Peppers theme because there are a lot of variations of it out there.  I've used the Rutles and Bob & Tom so far.  I have a Frank Zappa,  the Simpsons and others waiting in the wing when I feel it's time to change.

It does throw me off when people change their avatars.

Back in the day, I pretty much knew everyone by their avatars first, and their names second.  With all the changing avatars, it becomes tough to aquickly see adn remember who is who.

Also, I find it humorous that JB changes his avatar with some frequence, considering that he has turned off avatars when he views the board.

Mine is a tribute to an obscure recurring character in an even more obscure
Canadian SF show from the '70's that I loved as a kid (and would probably be
embarrassed as an adult now by how bad it really was).

I can't remember his name for sure; it was either "The Host" or "The
Librarian", but he was the face of the computer systems on "The Starlost". I
can still here his voice intoning: "May I be of ...assistance?"

Jack Straw - left wing ?

Surely you jest - I find him very right wing myself.

He asked muslim women coming for advice if they would unveil because he found it uncomfortable talking to them when he couldn't see their full face. What a cissy!

I thought it rather presumptuous, myself and doubt his ingenuousness - does he ask people wearing tinted glasses or sunglasses to remove them when he is talking to them I wonder because personally I find it more unsettling when you can't make proper eye contact - the windows of the soul and all that.

Yes, as you will gather from my posts I am a pretty devout feminist, I just meant I wasn't religious.

Mine is a collection of my favorite Iron Man helmets that I put together from a bunch of icons I created a couple years ago.  Why?  Because Iron Man is my favorite Marvel character.

In Honor of Baseball Playoffs I have changed my Avatar to the team I am rooting for. Hence Last week a LA Dodgers logo and now a Detroit Tigers logo with the Classic Orange "D". So I don't get mistaken for the gut with the current White "D". In  November I will go back to my Iron Man by Timm one that I colored on photoshop.
