I know. But just the other day someone where I work called me Kevin. Twice. I've had it happen many times. From many different people. I've been Kevin, Trent, Terry, Jerry and a few others I've forgotten.
Don't ask me to explain it. It just seems to be something that happens to me. Maybe I give off a pheremone that causes name confusion in people.

I get called Alan/Eric Polar/Peeler all the time. It helps screen out telemarketers, anyway.

Its interesting. People in the public eye can't wait for name recognition, and especially the level of recognition attached to an abbrevieated name or some initials (eg., TO, LT, J-Lo, PDiddy, etc...) But I agree, I don't like Supes, or Bats, even though I think you can argue its the same type of thing. On the other hand, Supes and Bats sound really stupid, IMO. But I suppose Bats is better than BM. ;)

A young boy was lost here in Dallas for a couple of days, and when they gave his description, the guy on the radio said, "brown hair, blue eyes, jeans, a red shirt and (literally) spiderman shoes." Sounds like a brand of shoe.

Count me among those who don't like it when people refer to Batman and Superman as "Bats"and "Supes." Use of "Shell Head" (Iron Man), "Goldilocks" (Thor), and the use of other such nicknames should be reserved for Stan Lee, Spider-Man and Ben Grimm. I'm okay with "Spidey" for Spider-Man and "Cap" for Captains Marvel and America.

I don't see the issue, myself. Many of us grew up with these characters, and consider them damn near childhood friends. I refer to my real friends by nicknames, and don't really see the difference in doing it to the fictional ones. If people do it with the intention of demeaning the characters, I could see the problem, but I would say the same thing about the nicknames I use for my real friends.
