I love Iron Fist.

When I was a kid, I created a comic book character called The Dragon. Basically, his deal was he'd been given the raw power of an actual dragon through a mystic rite at his birth. As such, he was invulnerable, strong, had enhanced and magical senses and could breathe fire.

The problem was his powers were always on and not usuable at a mortal level. He was literally a dragon in a man's body. So if he punched someone, their head would fly off. If someone punched him, their hand would be affected as if they punched a brick wall. If he breathed fire, it was a massive expulsion of fire and energy.

To compensate for his extraordinary powers, he was a martial artist dedicated to using the minimum amount of force needed for anything. The irony was that a man capable of breaking the world had to walk on eggs and fights were out of the question except for the most extreme of opponents.

I never comment on the commissions because the constant compliments become dull and repetitive, but this one made post.

I`m just thinking of what would happen next. Wolverine would lunge at Iron Fist, he`d grab his arm, and throw him across the room.

Iron Fist would then dodge some of storm`s bolts of lightning, and then do a bruce lee style back hand to Nightcrawler would just teleported behind him.

Yeah, it's a terrible thing to compliment John on good work.  How dare people express what they feel!

I love the way Gerry owns every comic in the world, particularly the cool ones.  It can only be a matter of time before the Mitchell Library calls, Gerry!

Respect!

These are just so amazing. I only read the Iron Fist run for the first time in
the Essentials edition, so Danny only exists in B&W in my mind.

...A guy calls a plumber to come and fix a leaky faucet. The plumber is there for about 10 minutes, and at the end hands the guy a bill for $150. The guy is outraged. "This is ridiculous! I watched you! All you did was replace a washer! I want an itemized bill!" The plumber takes back the bill and scribbles on it. He hands it back. It now says "New washer....50¢. Knowing how to do it, $149.50." ...

Exactly!

I recently had someone ask me about doing some artwork for him. I wasn't sure about what price to ask, and the guy didn't really know what would be fair. He told me to get back with him with a price. I asked a couple of friends what they thought. One asked me, "How long does it take to draw it?"

I stopped him right there.

"How long is pretty much moot," I said, "as it may take me only a few minutes or an hour, but someone else might not be able to do the same drawing, at all."

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but there's a difference between doing work that everyone can do, and doing skilled work or even something unique.

What do you other artists think?

By the way, JB, I love your variant commission, too!

I just noticed that in the second picture you gave Wolverine the yellow and black costume instead of the brown costume.  Any particular artistic reason for this or was it just more fun that way?

Why say the same thing everyone else has said? If I have something to say that is against the grain, I say it, or rather type it.
