 QUOTE:
Another concept thats being retconned by Marvel's contempt for Morrison.

It should be retconned.  It's a terrible design.

It's a bad word.

retconning is a neutral word, how it's used can be very bad, or very nessisary - tho' in this instance, i'm fairly certain it's being used incorrectly - Changing or Reverting the Beast back to a differant stage in his mutation, or advancing him to something else is just a change, it's only a retcon if they somehow say that he was NEVER the gosh-awful morrison designed lion-O mistake.

Fascinating. People take a couple of out-of-context comments spread over a thirty year career and brand me a racist. Morrison has taken potshots at the most basic conventions of the genre in virtually everything he's written for about 20 years, and people insist he "loves" superheroes.

Wait---are you drawing an analogy between disrespecting ethnicities and disrespecting superheroes? That seems pretty heavy-handed.

JB's comments *in-context* were NOT disrespecting any ethnicities.  Morrison's potshots ARE disrespecting superheroes.

The differing subject matter is not the point.  The point is, JB's comments are painted as negative when they were not...while Morrison's potshots are given a positive spin.

JB has historically shown a great deal of contempt ... for stupid people in comics. No law against that, folks !

A throw-away line about Batman's costume means nothing to me. I judge the writer by his body of work...

****

Apparently not, since the "body of work" contains many, many such "throwaway lines". As others have noted, Morrison seems incapable of writing a superhero story that does not contain at least one potshot at the genre.

Since this is fact, I wonder why some view it as "jealousy" or an "attack"?

you know, Paul Levitz and good ideas don't mesh well

That wouldn't happen to be an unprovoked attack on someone who has little or nothing to do with this thread, would it?

Matters not. Bored now.

You shouldn't waste so much time and effort on missing the point.

I thought that X-Men panel was some sort of internet gag. I can't believe that was actually published! Where can I find my own floating couches?

I got the point, just noted the analogy is kind of odd.

What's really sad about that New X-Men pannel and the one following it (which was not posted here and where Beast said that the X-Men were NEVE superheroes) is that many fans (especially fans of Morrison's X-Men run) actually beleave that the X-Men were NEVER superheroes. It was this belief by many fans that led me to ask JB a while ago if the X-Men were superheroes.
