Dave O'Neill

Well said. I certainly don't work in the industry and I haven't been reading comics for as long as some of the folks on these boards. But after being a fan for over 20 years and reading hundreds of comic stories from the Silver Age on up, I believe I am in a position to judge that Morrison enjoys the medium and honors the characters. A throw-away line about Batman's costume means nothing to me. I judge the writer by his body of work, and Morrison's track record on projects like JLA and DC One Million, combined with his current work on All-Star Superman, Batman and 52, will always have me looking forward to his interpretations of DC's icons. I turn to comics hoping for entertainment but also for that childlike "gee whiz, how cool is THAT?!?!" amazement. I don't get it from every project, but I always have that reaction to Morrison's superhero work.

I'm loving Morrison's Batman and Superman, this is the most fun the characters have been in years! The idea that he has contempt for the characters because he makes a couple of jokes seems a little crazy to me.

Indeed. I admire Morrison's work. I wish I was as creative as him. I might
not like all his stuff, but it never ceases to amaze me.

I recently listened to a podcast interview with Greg Rucka, who spoke of
the editorial meetings for the 52 project. While Rucka, Geoff Johns, Mark
Wid and the editors would fire ideas back and forth, Morrison would just
sit back and listen to everyone. Finally, he's speak, pitching this
outlandish concept, and the entire room would fall silent. When he was
done, Rucka noted that everyone in the room, rightly agreed with him,
and knew it was the best thing they'd heard all day. If he's talking about
the Great Ten, I'd be willing to stick with 52, just to see other Morrison
projects comes to fruition

But to read another creator bash Morrison is kinda sad

Indeed. Why would DC put him on the books if he hates them? Thats the
part that baffles me. Especially the Superman book. Frank Miller and Adam
Hughes got their books because of their connection with the
characters....Morrison has no such connection with a previous Superman
book...it must..almost...my God...he must be A FAN.

"Did you read Red Son? Millar wasn't quite as restricted then, and it made for
a better series. "

*****

i thought Red Son was great too!  Morrison mentioned in an interview that he gave Millar that ending which was the best thing about it.

Riiiiiiiiiight.  Like you don't engage in bashing creators you don't like on a weekly basis in the new comics thread.  Unprovoked, you'll take potshots at people you personally don't care for and now you castigate others for the same behavior?  Sorry, hypocritical much?

Morrison and Millar work together frequently and are good friends, so thats
not surprising. I have most of their 2000AD Summer Offensive, Vampirella
and Skrull Kill Krew.

And, of course, they pitched Superman a while back, but, you know, Paul
Levitz and good ideas don't mesh well

Even if this weren't true, are you trying to tell me that no post has ever gone off on a tangent or never mentioned something not strictly on topic, Dave?
