"killing DD's long-time love interest like Smith did was both hacky and tacky."
That's how I felt about it at the time too.

Hey, Chuck!
Welcome to the JBF!
Remember me? Worked at Marvel in the 90s, we talked a few times on
the phone, had a lunch or two...

Color me skeptical (and hopeful).

Cripes, I made a small criticism of Chuck on one of the other threads a little while ago. I had best run and hide now.

I'd say Kevin Smith's Daredevil story is a perfect example of Mr Byrnes rule about screenwriters needing to learn to write comic books... It just read like a movie treatment to me.

I sure do remember Glenn. Good times. Fat times.
And it's really me. Feel free to hammer away.

Now I just want to hear/read Chuck's confession.
I didn't learn anything from Mr. Webb. He surrendered too quickly!

No hammering from me, Chuck!
I stopped reading NIGHTWING the moment you left. And aside from Doug
Moench, you were the only Batman writer of the 90s who remembered
that Batman is actually HUMAN--a GOOD GUY--and NOT a socially
retarded prick.
Hope to see your name on some upcoming books!

Hi, Chuck!
If we can go offtopic for a bit, I heard a rumor you're doing Airboy again. True?
While you're answering questions, what are your favorite Byrne stories? Any characters you'd like to see him on, or any series you'd like to work with him on?
