Still think Jean coming back was a disaster.

****

And you're still wrong.

*******

But I still think that, and I'm entitled to that opinion. Anyhow, she's dead again.  But as you said JB, death is reversible in a panel or two.

 QUOTE:
Man, they'll have some guy doing a bunch of blank pages and claiming they were set in a snowstorm next, I betcha!!!

Now seems a good time to ask JB something I've always wondered about that issue of Alpha Flight.  Did you get paid your normal page rate for "drawing" those five snowstorm pages, or was it a lesser rate, or did they even pay you at all?  I assume you didn't get paid your full amount, otherwise we would've seen a whole slate of snowstorm battles by every other comic book artist in the industry.

Also, was that whole thing really approved by the assitant editor while the editor was out of town, or was that whole "Assistant Editors Month" thing just a big scam?

I got paid my normal rate. Shooter said the blank
pages were "an artistic decision".

And, yes, "Assistant Editor's Month" was a "scam".

I did my own Green Lantern fan fiction comic that was inspired by "Snowblind", it was titled "In Blackest Night" here's a panel.

Just kidding. :-)

The question about how JB was paid for the snowstorm pages has come up a couple of times, so I'm putting it in the FAQ!

I wonder who owns the original art for those snowstorm pages?

NRAMA: Anything serious you’d like to say?

JQ - Well as you know, Alpha Flight had a little bit of trouble in the most recent issue of New Avengers. Heck, I hear that the entire nation of Canada has declared war on Brian Bendis. Anyway, Just so Alpha flight folk don’t spend the entire weekend bummed out, don’t worry too much because there are big plans in the works for our Canadian super team. I think when it all comes to fruition; all our Marvel faithful north of the border are going to be thrilled.

Jean coming back for me was a mixed feeling.  I felt her death was a powerful climax to one of the great storylines in X-men history, and that some of her portrayals post resurrection (none written by JB) presented a watered down, unsatisfying version.  However... I have to say it was one of the cleverest and most well handled rebirth stories I can remember... JB seems to have a special knack for (re)births and deaths (and all the in-betweens on those subjects that are the staple of comics).

I am glad Jean (was) around but at the same time, reading the Dark Phoenix Saga after, it just didn't have the same kind of impact afterwards as it had with many of you before.

Mmmmmhhh, I thought the sollicitation for New Avengers #16 was "Alpha Flight in their Final Battle!".

It reminds me of the "Dead is dead" notion given by the same JQ a few years ago, and his "explanations" regarding the coming back of dead characters a few weeks ago.

JQ : a new explanation/excuse every week.
