I'm with Kyle Sing on this. If you read the last part of ALPHA FLIGHT vol.3 it more than likely wasn't even the original Alpha Flight.
Either way, nothing to get worked up over. Death is completely meaningless in comic book universes anymore.

Yeah I said the same thing Kyle Sing said on pg.3. From what Bendis is saying on his board they might not even be dead.

A couple related questions for JB here....
1) I live here in the North East US (New Hampshire) and I always assumed that if I lived two hours north of here, life would be pretty much the same, except for diferent bills in my wallet, a diferent national anthem and stuff like that. Does that sound more or less right?
2) I know that you never had a whole lot of interest in Alpha Flight (although a lot of us think it was some of your best work), but are there ANY of the charachters that you would be interested in doing ANYTHING with? Even something along the lines of making Sasquach a semi regular support charachter as She Hulk's boyfriend (if you ever were in a position to be writing She Hulk again), or some other use of that level?
3) Did you ever see any signifigant potential for one of them to spin off on their own and support a book?

Have you tried Runaways? The digests have six issues for eight bucks
each, so they're fairly inexpensive.

Well said Thomas. Runaways have inside everything that people here are
complaining is lacking in comic books nowadays.
Young Avengers is also a very very fun book. Of course deeply into Marvel
history but still modern and intriguing and classicaly well drawn.
But hey - people prefer complains about the big loss Alpha Flight
currently is for the comic book medium :)

Mike Sawin nailed it. Bringing back Jean wasn't per se a bad idea. But Cyclops was seriously mishandled in the early days of X-Factor.
And to bring back Jean after Rachel Summers had become a regular X-Men
character was not the best idea in the world. Better to have waited
until Claremont could be persuaded to put Rachel back in the alternate
future where she belonged (assuming Claremont could be persuaded) and
then bring Jean back.

The really weak part of Jean's return were the first awful X-Factor issues
before Walt Simonson came aboard. Besides the whole X-Factor concept was
so lame and inaccurate for the characters that it is hard to read back those
Jean is back X issues (FF, UXM, X-Factor) with this ridiculous X-Factor
organisation in the middle. Dont get me wrong : putting back together all
the original X-Men was a great idea (and still could be) but the whole
concept was so stuuupid that it ruined the return of Jean. For me at least :)

When he came up to visit me in Canada, back in the 1970s, it was his first trip north of the border. He said that Canada was Earth 2. Everything was just the same --- only different. 2) There was brief discussion, about 10 years ago, of doing something with Northstar and Aurora, and another character unconnected to Alpha. The concept was put forward by an openly Gay editor, up at Marvel, and he approached me about writing and drawing it. I liked the idea, and we tossed around some story ideas. When it all got passed along to the Powers That Were, it was shot down. The reason given was that I was asking for too much money. (I was asking, for writing, penciling and inking, exactly half what the Kubert brothers were getting for pencils alone). The real reason, painfully obvious to everyone with a brain, was that the Higher Ups were afraid to do a book with an openly Gay lead character. 3) See above.

As longtime members will tell you David, when I hold back information, it is not to coyly cox someone into asking me about it.

In fact, I didnt expect an answer, it was more of a joke. I start to know the
rules on this board, I hope.
But still - The Thing and the twins ? You were really pushing too hard
here John :)

Out of curiosity, I flipped the New Avengers, and I really felt like I was stealing the whole issue. It took me 3 minutes to read it. First 8 pages, somebody fell on earth (no dialogue). The most "exciting" part is Alpha Flight getting ready for battle, and you don't even see it, and the rest of the time, it involves people looking at screens and talking on the phone.
I wonder who can put a good review for this kind of stuff.
