I stopped reading Alpha Flight when Byrne left. Alive or dead with no John Byrne it doesn't matter much to me. However, I thought it was discussed in a thread months ago that there are two teams of Alpha Flight running around. One that came from the past to the present. This easily could be the alternate version being killed.

When I was in a summer resort in Italy with 3 friends, all tall, tan and blonde (I'm tall, but pasty-white with brown hair), every time we ventured outside we kept hearing whispers of "Baywatch!"

I just stopped collecting M****L, Joey Q just turned the whole thing into crap. The whole Alpha Flight death scene is just plain dumb and killing off Sue Richards is idiotic.

It may not be her getting killed. She is in some poster art for Civil War, so it may just be  a plot point for that special issue of FF.

I am annoyed. I really like Alpha Flight, at least the originals. The last series that tried to turn them into Mar#$ls version of the joky Justice League was just outright nonesense. At least the series before, with many a new character was readable, for a while at least. And now they kill them off in one of the lamest manners that I have ever seen in comics. Sure, they may not stay dead, but just the fact that they did not even show them fighting this thing, in effect making their death seem nothing more than a blurb in this latest New Avengers storyline, is just insulting to any of the teams fans.

I won't ever read these stories, and so could (n't) care less, but what is the point of one person posting SPOILER followed by invisible text only for someone else to say' nah I don't believe that [fill in the blanks]' without any such approach?

And I continue to be baffled by the reactions to these 'deaths'...when a friend of mine, a few years ago, mentioned that Superman had been killed in the comics and sought my views I told him 'Comics don't work like that - he'll be back in about six months', a lesson I had carried with me since at least the first appearance of Doctor Doom in the FF.  Or am I missing something about the way comics have changed?

Anyway, it is all starting to get a little f**king predictable, isn't it?  EVERY month someone dies?

The more their death will be talked about, the more chances they have to
come back. I mean how many times Guardian's been dead already ? Who
counts ?

Whatever the main man here says I just loved his original run, and really
thought somebody could have done other stuffs with them, especially
with the twins. Now what did we get of the rest of ALL Alpha Flight stories
since Byrne left ? Some early Mignolas, and some early (and very bad) Jim
Lee. That's it. Dont even comment the scripts.

Whatever you say about New Avengers, this is much better scripted by
Bendis than any AF stories since 20 years, and much much much better
drawned by Mc Niven than anything since JB's version.

Anyway, AF are here for 4 pages only, so...

All and all, I think after a weak beginning (Avengers Dissabembled and
the whole first arc), New Avengers is really starting to be a nice reading,
the cornestone of the MU and featuring some of the best artists around.
The J Jonah appareance in the previous issue was absolutely well done.
I'm a bit worried about Deodato taking the art soon though.

The funny part is that the only Avenger to appear in that whole book is Tony Stark and all he does is argue with the watch officer of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the TEEVEE Phone.

This is a lame pointless killing done for shock value and to build the horror cred of the "new cosmic villain" not unlike when the criticaslly acclaimed Starman book was trying to build the Cred of the New Punky/Goth Mist by having her contemptuously and sadistically slaughter the worthless JLE 2 composed of Blue Devil, Amazing Man, and Crimson Fox.

The only major difference is that this one was done off screen.

They also had a couple of Hulk Buster suits taken out.

So what we have here is crap comics.

I hate to say it, but I'm getting to the point were there's nothing that I want to read being published (besides BOTD).  Every trip to my LCS has me contemplating the end of my comic collecting.  I've been collecting for what I think is 24 years.  How fitting would it be if I stopped in my 25th?  It's coming.  I used to spend at least a $120 a month on comics, but I've noticed over the last six months or so that I'm down to about $52.

Considering that all AF winds up doing in this story is lying around dead -- that's not saying much!

Alpha Flight as scripted cannon fodder.  Warms your heart, doesn't it?
