Mods,
I think JB's quotes above on death of characters may be worth a spot on the FAQ, since his comments on deaths of characters is asked monthly at the minimum (but, i'm not a mod, your call).
The best news about anything involving Bendis is that he is FINALLY off Daredevil...can start buying it again (although Powers is a great series).
now back on topic....I must have missed YEARS of Alpha Flight, that Shaman now says lines like, "Yeah, right". The most ridiculous part of all of this is how LAME that death scene is. I can understand killing off a few hundred mole men that way, or members of the Global Guardians (or whatever), but AF? Pathetic use of characters at best...sloppy boring writing at worst. Similar to the reaction i had to a Freedom Fighters appearance recently (not gonna spoil it) at DC....LAME!

waitaminute -
Mac "Guardian" Hudson was brought back? And whoever wrote it couldn't
think of another way to do it than a "fairy tale" that Courtney thought up
to fool Heather?
yeah, great.
Who was the writer?

Hmm, not sure if we should be naming names here, but the writer had a year or so stint on AF, then went on to script Rob Liefeld's X-Force, only to become the full writer of X-Force and X-Men once Lee and Liefeld bolted to Image.
As JB has pointed out in the past, the explanation intentionally had a major flaw - in AF#12, Guardian was clearly engulfed in flames, straining out a final "Heather.....", but the explanation has him immediately teleporting the moment the explosion occured. I could see Heather not catching that, since it all happened so fast, and she was just happy to see Mac alive again that she didn't sweat that (major) detail.

The more of those solicitations I read, the more money I knew would still be in my pocket at the end of the month.

JB, has always said something to the effect that "Alpha Flight was created soley for the purpose of surviving a battle with the X-Men."
His interest in the characters didn't extend much beyond that and the AF series isn't/wasn't one of his fondest.
I've got no beef with him for that.
but .....
I have always fondly remembered that series as one of my favorites of his many fine works. And with me it's all about the Alpha Flight characters. They were great!
Plus Heather, Box, etc.
The characters haven't really been treated worth a damn since JB left the title.
I wish Marvel would sell me the rights to these characters.

Me neither - nice piece. I'm guessing this was a promo piece, pre-AF#1? Some of their looks aren't quite "gelled" in this pic.

One cool thing about Alpha Flight I've always sort of noticed without noticing is their costumes. While they didn't have a team uniform, all their costumes seemed to complement each other. Guardian's jagged Maple Leaf design was similar to the twin's jagged lightburst designs, and Shaman's costume also had a kind of jagged design on the torso. Snowbird's costume seemed to be made of softer lines, until she flew and then her cape bellowed out into scallops..more jagged lines. Even when Aurora changed her costume...it still "matched" the others.
Was this something you did purposely, JB, or am I imagining patterns that aren't there?

Deliberate. You can add to this the fact that even
Sasquatch's fur followed the same basic pattern.

Kinda related to this:
I had a teacher in high school who went on a trip to Ireland. This teacher was about average height, balding, and kind of thin. I remember him saying that some of the Irish people he met were surprized that he wasn't taller and bigger, much like the men they watched on "Dallas" (that dates the story, eh?).
