Come on,guys, this is all just smoke and mirrors. Changes
come and go... mostly in the attempt to get a boost in
sales.
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------

This is why I don't get why people are even talking about it, much less in a rage about it.  I've read comics for 25 years...I've seen this before.  It is simply boring to me and doesn't elicit any desire to discuss it.

Except that in the case of Green Lantern, they waited so long that it ultimately has made little difference to me. I was out of the hobby so long that when I tried to get back in, other than Green Lantern and John's books, I found I didn't want in.

And then there is the very true possibility that the core concept is never coming back.

No one is in a rage. And why they're talking about it is because they dislike the stunt, regardless of whether its been done before. If you're so ho hum about it, why are you posting about it?

I agree with James, since when is expressing an opinion 'rage'? But thanks Howard, I await the return with bated breath.

Rage? I'm very irish, but hardly green.

By the by, thanks Brian

I'll forward my essay on the phenomenological experiences of raged dyslexic comic fans for spelling and grammar corrections asap.  (:

That would be One Fan's Opinion. Namely Erik Larsen.

Maybe YOU were just done with the character and the
concept... it does happen.

NEVER is a very long time.

The bottom line for the publishers is the BOTTOM LINE.
This book/character has been around for a real long time.
Sales have ebbed and flowed. When they're ebbing the PTB
say,"Hey, it's time for you to goose the sales. Whatcha'
got?" Suddenly, you get everything from "The Identity
Crisis"(remember the Spidey books used that x-0ver title
first) to the return of the parents... to Spider-Man
joining the Avengers(is this only the 2nd time?) to the
Clone Saga... to the Other... etc...

And guess what? Each of those things made sales go UP!
Even the Cloen Saga was successfull until it destroyed
civilaztion as we now know it.

Until, these lame-assed x-overs stop causing sales to go
up... they ain't going away.

And I do not see these postings as RAGE... and I think
the companies do pay attention to the internet
postings... sometimes TOO much.

But that's just MY opinion... what do I know.

Howard(inchin' toward 100 posting

Oh...I never heard of it. I don't typically read what
Eric has to say... now I did.The tone of the column seems
to be very angry and preachy. Oh well...

Methinks you're misunderstanding what I am saying. I am not through with Hal Jordan Green Lantern. What happened is that when he was replaced with Kyle Rayner, I was so annoyed I stopped reading comic books, all comic books.

I came back with JLA Avengers and hung around for Doom Patrol and was therefore around for Green Lantern: Rebirth, but aside from Green Lantern and John's stuff, I just don't care anymore. The product in the marketplace is too far from what I want / know for me to get back into it.

Most of the hot artists leave me cold, as do many of the hot writers. DC's Green Lantern stunt not only kicked me out of comics but is seriously hampering my return. I want to buy four to six books a week again. I'd just like there to be four to six books I want.

That's what I was saying. I like Hal Jordan Green Lantern (current and previous) just fine.

True. But still possible nonetheless.
