Q "JMS has a definitive plan as to when the costume appears and leaves. It’s his decision."
SPOILERS POSSIBLE FOR CIVIL WAR
Between the physical changes to Peter that follow the aftermath of The Other, he gets a second power upgrade courtesy of the ‘Iron Spider’ suit from Stark. What he will discover is that with great power comes not just responsibility but one heck of a price tag. Peter will have to decide if he can pay that price in loyalty to Tony, when the loyalty may cost him things he holds dearest. He will find himself caught in the middle of the Civil War, seeing all sides of the argument, but will be eventually forced to make a decision that will change both his life and the whole Marvel Universes.”

You know I didn't think anything would look worse than the JoeMad Iron Man armor. I was wrong. Also makes purple Venom look good.

This costume beats his Prodigy costume from "Identity Crisis" at least. Barely.

Based on that shot, it would seem Spider-Man can
now also fly.

Does he have six fingers on his right hand, or are my eyes starting to go?

It's only five fingers, but I can tell where you're seeing
the sixth. There's part of his upper torso/ribcage
area that's cropped in such a way that it almost looks
like a thumb, which I'd bet is what you're seeing.

That's similar to Quesada's design for Azrael. This is Az-Spidey.

Take away the mechanical arms and I like it.
They are being pretty circumspect about this. WHen the dust blows over from Civl War, I expect this to go.

I am glad that they have a definite plan for when the costume will be
introduced, and when it will go. Keeping it around for more than a few
months is just a bad idea.
I love Stan. I really do. But he's a Marvel mouthpiece. That's what
he's paid to do as the recognizable figurehead of the company. Hell,
he praised THE PUNISHER and FF as well as other projects, both film and
comic books, that I've thought were terrible, so I wouldn't go on his
say-so alone regarding the intentions of a character. He's not paid to
give his opinions. He's paid to speak for Marvel. I take that with a
huge heaping cup o' salt.
********************************************************** ***************
If he's willing to call the script "among the best scripted, most
meticulously crafted superhero tales ever written" I'm not going to
protest the allegedly poor use of his characters. It's not worth taking
them more seriously than he does, even if he's paid for hyping the
books. Anyone know what his job title was in 1989 (when the
introduction was written)? It's worth noting that he references the
alcoholism aspect of the storyline several times in the introduction
(including praises from an institution on alcoholism resratch) so he's
certainly aware of what was done with his character.
It just occurred to me. If Stan Lee had quit Spider-Man a few issues
earlier, and someone else had written the Harry on drugs on storyline,
would there be posts about how the new writer went against his
intentions for a great member of Spider-Man's supporting cast? And that
writer would of course be blamed for setting up the events leading to
Harry's death.

Those tentacles do remind me of the Spiderwoman tentacles. Just to show that Byrne is a talented artist.

So now he's Doctor Octo-Spider?
Or Spider-Woman-Man?
