The "original" Spider-Armor was part of a really
stupid conflict with The New Enforcers, a team of
bad guys so vicious that Spider-Man needed a suit of
battle armor to even hope to defeat them...and that
armor was totally destroyed almost as soon as the
fight started.

Never mind the fact that Spider-Man had taken on the
entire Sinister Six, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and
any number of other villainous teams without any
assistance before, but the New Enforcers were the
guys that had him quaking in his boots. Sigh...at
least we got a nice shiny cover out of it.

A superhero costume is never complete unless it's got spats!

I wonder if he can dance the Charleston?

Well...uh...it's not a patch on the original.  Hell, it's not even a patch on the black costume.

Regarding that atrocious costume with the spats,

you have got to be kidding me!

Iron Man, Iron Man, where for art thou, Iron Man?

If you really want to have a good cry, read that script I sent you a while back -- I'm sure you'll find Iron Man somewhere in there . . .

;-)

 QUOTE:
If sticking him in a bright, shiny costume for a few
months encourages the creative teams to stop
dismembering Spider-Man and tell some fun stories
again, it's got to be better than what they've been
doing with him.

From Marvel.com:

"Every "gift" has its cost, and this new look for Spidey will signal the beginnings of change, especially as it comes on the eve of the upcoming Civil War. Spider-Man has developed a growing trust and friendship with Iron Man, but how much in debt is Peter’s loyalty to Tony Stark going to cost him in the long run? If the color scheme is any indication, well... Joe Quesada says, "I imagined Tony presenting Peter with the new suit and Peter putting it on and saying that it looks great but that his colors are red and blue. Tony would simply respond, ‘My design, my colors!’"

What is it that Joe is talking about that’s classified? How will Spidey’s relationship to Tony - and the new costume- play into Civil War?! You’ll have to read the books to see! But, it is safe to see that when it comes to this new costume, there is much more to the story!

It's going to tie into the "Civil War" "event", which sounds like it's going to be another cynical "super heroes betray each other and act like dickwads" story. Doesn't sound very fun to me.

That new costume looks like it belongs to Spider-Man's disco loving cousin. It's all shiny. Tell me that picture is some sad, tragic hoax. If it's a sign of things to come it seems like a cry for help. Maybe Spider-Man needs an intervention to snap him out of all this insanity he's going through lately.

If it's true can we all make sure Steve Ditko doesn't see that. I think it might shorten his lifespan.

Spidey also got a huge gun and a monocle one time in an Erik Larsen-drawn story.

Can anyone post that cover?

Y'know, overall I haven't minded JQ's run as EIC, but over the last year or so, I am becoming concerned.
With House of M, Planet Hulk, Civil War, the complete destruction of the character of Spider-Man, and this bizarre 1985 thing they're doing, I'm thinking if they tank, there could be some real damage done to the company.
I personally don't like the direction Marvel is headed, so it will be interesting to see where Marvel stands one year from now.

And, to put one more nail in the coffin, that new costume is ugly.

Oh, but very Watchment and therefore very cool.

If only pink hair and five o'clock shadows remained so cool twenty years later.

These guys' professional judgement is impaired. Whether by chemical substances or just old-fashioned stupidity, I don't know.
