About 90% of my vehicle design -- flying vehicles, anyway -- goes directly to the DAN DARE strips I read as a kid.

I think the reason so many pf your designs become the definitive versions, JB, is that you obviously put some thought into the designs. Some artists look like they just hurried up and knocked off a design for a ship, etc.

Toy Biz were going to have a Quin Jet as a bonus vehicle that you could build together if you bought a full set of Marvel Legends series 15 (one segment per figure). Sadly oil prices have canned that idea for 2006 at least.
