I think they make him too big now even if for artistic licenses sake it looks really cool...

One of the most common comments I heard, when previews for the movie were being shown, was that the Hulk was TOO big.  I'm guessing that comes from people who couldn't get away from the idea of the Hulk of the TV show.

For the first 25 years or so of the characters existance, the
HULK was represented as between 6 and a half and maybe
just over 7' tall. I don't think it's just that they "couldn't get away
from the...TV show."

JB made the Hulk look really huge in his run on the Hulk in the 315ish  run....That was the first time he really started to look 10 feet tall and bigger than he had ever been portrayed

That big double page spread JB did with ( holographic) Hulk fixing to smash down on Banner is by far my favorite Hulk pic.

He was a comparable size in The Incredible Hulk Annual # 7, I think...the one with Angel and Iceman featuring JB pencils, which predates his Hulk run by a few years.  Same with the JB Marvel Team-Up with Hulk, Spider-Man, and Woodgood....a "gigantic" Hulk there, too (compared to Sal Buscema's version...to me, at the time, the 'real' Hulk).

For a good indicator as to how big JB drew Hulk, go here.

Hey!  I resemble that remark!

Hey Joe, wanna try this I took it from the first pic on this thread and colored it like yours, it's just a little clearer.

another character whose size has changed greatly over the years is Thor. Here he is on the cover to Journey Into Mystery #83:

He`s rather thin and for the most part, I like him as a bigger dude. He is scandinavian and those people are usually big. Here`s a recent cover by barry smith that was kind of reminiscent of Thor`s look in his first appearance:

Trevor,

So....what are you saying about how Thor has changed?  Maybe you should post something else, all you did was say, "Here's what he used to look like...and here's another one where he looks that way too."

Well you could just compare them both to that picture of Thor in the upper left of the Barry Smith cover.

There's nothing in either of those 'Thor' covers to give the character any scale.
