Strange, I'd heard that you'd lost it - you're ability to draw.****** Right about now you should be able to drop in on just about any comics related message board and find someone dismissing these pieces as looking like "they were done in 1980" --- while simultaneously insisting my "old stuff was better".

This "mistake", can someone explain it to me...It's got my interests and since I've only limited knowledge of the FF I can't spot it.

I was specifically looking at the scales on the character's leg in the second piece and thought if you had inked those with the brush/pen then you must have nerves of steel. **** Well, maybe iron... Doom and Terrax, as well as the rock they are on, and its "trail", plus Bashful Benjy, are entirely done with the brush-pen. The outlines on Sue, Reed, Johnny and the Surfer are with the more conventional point. The blacks are filled in with brush, as is the metal technique on the Surfer. The "flame effects" on Johnny's body are pen.

These are also 20x30 inches, inked with the PITT
pens (tho on these there is some work done with a
fine tip, mostly faces and hands, plus the
background in the Terrax piece.)
***************
Would the PITT work as well at a smaller size - 10X15?

Reed was not present for the actual battle.

Don't see why not. The line can be made quite thin.
Probably have a Joe Sinnott echo to it.

Beautiful work, although I prefer the original FF uniforms. If you had stayed
on FF, JB, would you have at some point returned to the original color
scheme?

That is why I got a FF subscription back in the 80s.

Thanks, JB! Not to sound as too much of a kiss-up, but I really appreciate, as I think we all do on these forums, you taking the time to answer questions regardless of how trivial or drawn out they may be.

Pity Liefield doesn`t use more negative space(like maybe the whole page) or draw using erasers(like maybe the whole page) ;-)

JB:
I notice the "Copyright Marvel" on both of these images -- how does that
work with commissions? I'm guessing that since you presumably receive
income from doing a commish that Marvel (or DC or whomever's characters
you use) take a share of the commission rate...

I love the energy you bring to the pieces. Love to see a Hulk /thing
commission piece.
