Next, Marvel's belated answer to DC's Superman vs Ali.  Spidey vs. Tyson, and this time he's not stopping at the ear.

You know, I am so glad a thread on the Mackie Byrne Spider-man suddenly spoiled the main events of The Other with no warning.  Thanks.

Appreciate it.

Im sorry this thread went this way.  I only started it because I waqnted to tell Mr.Byrne how great I thought his run on Amazing Spider-Man was.

I really love Spider-Man, but it seems like we can't even discuss him, with out the discussion turning into " the Spider-Man sucks now".

Victor, can you edit the thread title, since you started it, to include the word "spoilers"?

Or can only a moderator do that now?

Edit: I agree that it's sad that we can't just celebrate the past without a 'now' bashing taking place - I wish it weren't so. How great would it be if we could argue that what was being done now was as good as the good old days? It's a shame that in many instances we can't.

Sure thing Andrew.

To make things positive.

To Glenn Greenberg

I read Goblins at the Gate last night.  I really loved it  You and Roger Stern did a great job.  I loved the interaction with Norman and Roderick Kingsley.

Come on guys! Losing an eyeball is really something, but it doesn't mean Peter is going to wear an eye patch ( or the writers are stupid! ) and having a life crisis. I am one-eyed and my fake eye is so good that I even had to put it out to prove it to A DOCTOR!  And, well, he was wearing a mask before,...

As for depth and such... It is true I cannot play all those sports with tiny balls ( tennis, table tennis, badminton, ...) but I am quite good at shooting games ( it is even more easy than for the "normal" people ) and I don't think Peter could have any trouble after the adaptation period. On top of that he still have his spider sense !

'organic eyepatch'?  Wouldn't that be his eyelid?

It's tough to enjoy talking about past good storylines without referencing what's currently going on.  It's only natural to look at how good something once was, and wish that it could rise to that level again someday.

Seriously, is there a single Marvel book that's as good or better than it was 20 years ago?  I don't know.  I enjoyed that Power Pack book I bought for my kids, but I can't think of another one.
