I gave up any hope of SPIDER-MAN being readable again long ago...

I wish there was a readable Spider-Man title out there. Well, there's Spider-Girl, which I love.

When Morlun gets home, just after hitting on the Goth girl at the local Starbux to get a Triple Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte, Extra Hot for free, he feels the twinge of biological functions, and within seconds, Peter has a Spidey Sense AND Second Sight. Collected in TPB form titled, 'Before The Flush'.

Yeah it does get people talking, but the majority are saying, 'yep, apperantly Marvel is completely creatively bankrupt.'
and a few saying 'no its cool he's maimed!!! He can wear a patch and
change his name to Spider-Pirate!!1! Pirates are k3wl!1!!1 Yarr'

I thought Morlun was a great one-time villian...I mean, it took a minor miracle for Peter to think up a way to defeat him as he couldn't take him on physically.
My assumption is that we can now add "healing factor" to Spider-Man's new powers, along with biological webshooters and whatever else nonsense they've tacked on after I dropped this book...
Otherwise, like a previous poster noted--no depth perception pretty much eliminates all of the web-slinging and fighting abilities he has.

Back to Byrne/Mackie, I remember being very excited during the first couple issues, with Peter trying not to be Spider-Man but still ending up saving the day anyway. Also with the mysterious new Spider-Man running around. It had me wondering what was going on. Also, the treatment of Peter trying not to be a super-hero was very good, because it showed how he couldn't help but keep helping people.
However, this didn't last long. In fact, I remember JB saying to me at MOC back then something to the effect that they should have kept that going on longer. I don't remember much else about the run offhand, and i remember I lost interest and was going to drop the book, but JB left anyway so that was my last issue. The crossovers were certainly a negative for me as JRJr's book didn't fit in my budget. Wish I could give more constuctive criticism...I'd have to re-read to refresh my memory.

"

Now if it was a testicle, imagine all the endless subtext.
