Matt Hawes: Imagine if Wertham had seen that close-up of a french kiss between Black Widow and Tony Stark in this week's "The Ultimates"!!!
I sure am glad I don't waste my money on stuff like that.
I personally like to keep my softcore porn and my comics separate.

While I'm not a fan of porngraph comic books/ drawings, I was unaware
that french kissing is pornographic. Do Tony & Natasha have some
really messed up power that I'm unaware of? If it's just normal
"tounge" I don't see how it's out of character for (Ultimate) Tony
& Natasha, especially as Millar's really the only guy who's written
them (aside from minor work by Bendis.) And I don't think it's
surprising to younger audiences that have seen french kissing
everywhere from the second Charlies Angels movie (I know it's a bad
movie but I recall frenching) to Saturday Night Live.
They have future plans. That's funny.

JMS has been setting up years of Spider-Man plots beginning with his
first arc. Issue 75 of Ultimate Spider-Man provided pay-off to a plot
point set in the first issue. Comic creators working for Marvel have
some really long term plans, something creators working for DC really
can't have.

Yep, they showed a close up of Tony and Natasha tongue-kissing.

Okay, here's the thing: Let's say there are a handful fans that finds this to be the best, most interesting Spider-Man story ever. There are a ton of different people out there, with all their different tastes, so it could be possible.
Even so, if there are 80% or more that hate the story, does this mean that the story should never be published in the first place? Should the readers that absolutely adore "The Other" be denied of their great reading experience, because the "true", hardcore Spider-Man fans dislikes it?
I haven't read this storyline, and I probably never will. But it seems from the previews that it could be no worse than the Spider-Man stories after the reboot. But that's not the point. If somebody loved those books, then good for them. And I ain't the one pull their books away from these people.
Any thoughts on this?

There was nothing wrong with post reboot pre JMS Spider-Man stories. They were the most consistently good Spidey stories since he got married.
Though really the post clone saga books were pretty good, in paticular Amazing and Peter Parker.

Well, that's just a matter of opinion, isn't? I was somewhat intriguied by the whole clone saga, and found it to be an interesting premise. Then it ended way too late, and the stories that followed stunk beyound repair for me, so much that I quit all the Spider-books.
I mean, the Aunt May that died in #400 was an actress? Jeez. For the first time I really didn't believe in a superhero comic, and that says a lot.
And the Chapter One origin mixing with the established titles, well, it just seemed forced to. And let's not forget "great" characters like Captain Power, and the pantless Doc Ock.
Again, my opinion on these books. If you liked them, then good for you. My point was that these books should be allowed to be published, even if they only please a handful of readers. The rest of us are free to ignore them, as I will with "The Other".

The difference is mine is correct. I could say Rob Liefeld is a better artist than Will Eisner. Thats an opinon right?

No they shouldn't to be published. Its rediculous to think they would publish a story like this.
I think every problem with the Spider0Man books started after James Owsley (Christopher Priest) was fired as editor of the Spider-Man books.

Well, I'm sorry to tell ya Victor, but your opinion isn't correct, it's a matter of taste. How is it so? Well, because I found the books horrible, and my opinion is therefore as much "correct" as yours.
As for "The Other", who are we to deny an artistic voice to express itself? When any piece of fiction (or non-fiction for that matter), comes out and doesn't ring a hundred percent with some of the audience, does this mean that it should be banned? It all comes down to freedom of speech, even if it is hust comic books.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that.
By the way, isn't there a kid-friendly Marvel line these days? Maybe some continuty-tired readers should check that out.
