Same as John's link, Jason. You have to remove the space between the h and the t int the html part of his link.

Christ, I'm glad I don't read Spider-Man any more. Good lord, how rediculous.

You just don't have JMS's 'vision', JB.

(SPOILERS FOR FUTURE JMS FF ISSUES)Reed develops stretchy claws, Ben learns that everything he think he knows about himself is a memory implant, Johnny turns into a samurai, and Sue starts drinking. Lots and lots of drinking. Reportedly, JMS pitched it as "m***** 2006 - the year we make everyone Wolverine".(END SPOILERS)

If you want to avoid spoilers, or if you're waiting to pick the book up later
in the day, don't click 'em: (might be the same thing as McMahon's post,
but his link didn't work for me)

---------------

I think I want to cry after seeing those. I was never the biggest fan of
Spider-Man, but have collected a lot of his books. This just looks so
ridiculous. I stopped picking up Amazing, Spectacular, and Spider-Man
back in April or so, and am just so glad I did now.

So what are the chances of Spider-Man sprouting claws during
a battle with Sandman in the next Spider-Man movie?

I normally stay away from commenting on comics I haven't read and creators whose work is foreign to me but that is a complete and utter travesty.  That is meant to be a SPIDER-MAN story??

The dialogue in the first panel is actually a very appropriate description for the entire JMS run.

Yikes!

The book is Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man? What's wrong with these people? What's wrong with JMS? He seems to want to utterly destroy everything Spider-Man stands for! Could it be they want to bring Marvel down?

**************************************

I honestly can't fathom why this story would appear in a title called "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" -- I'm not even getting into whether the story is good or not, which it ain't, chillun!

(Also, as for the art, why is Peter wearing khaki shorts under his hospital gown?)

Here's what JMS -- and apparently Marvel -- doesn't get. The whole primal, animalistic garbage is not Spider-Man. It never was. It's certainly possible that such a character would be interesting but that character is not Spider-Man -- he's not a predator, he doesn't have stingers, and doesn't bite his enemies. All of his abilities were basically ramped up human ones (speed, agility, strength) with wall-crawling and spider-sense (itself not really a "spider-like" ability) thrown in.

Two things...

1.  Do spiders even have stingers?  I admit my knowledge in this area is fairly limited, but I thought spiders had fangs and it was insects who had stingers.

2.  I got into a back-and-forth with Peter David over on another board over "The Other" crossover.  He seemed awfully sensitive to any criticism over his involvement in this thing, and (since I think he does have some understanding of who and what Spider-Man should be) I think I finally realize why.
