The only *possible* thing I can think of is that JMS was so offended by the marriage, Clone Saga, et al that he's taking Spider-Man to a point so ridiculous that Marvel has no choice BUT to reboot the character back to his origins- which is the only possible way they can undo all the damage he's wrought.
Either that, or he's an egomaniac who truly believes he's fixing all those idiotic mistakes Stan Lee and Steve Ditko made when they created the character.

Don't read a lot of Dark Horse (though the recent Concrete Collections
have been ace) but Image is going through something of a renaissance,
publishing a lot of quality titles right now.
On the Spider-Man spoilers - that sounds real dumb.

I think that Spider-Man needs Spider vision, spider-pulse-blasts, and spider-hearing. Plus I think it would be cool if he had big shoulder pads and rocket feet.
Hell...might as well give him a burning skull head, a katana, ninja stars, a bazooka while you are fiddling around under the hood. And.... boobs. Why not?
What could be more popular than that?

"Jason, please tell me you are making this up, it just can't be true....
If it is, then the creators and editors are seriously damaged, and so are all the asshole fans who will stand by this stupidity."
You know, as horrible as the Gwen/Goblin thing was...at least JMS could claim he was trying to be all "realistic" with that. I remember reading his response to complaints where he talked about how the women in his life have talked about similar type experiences. I will actually pay money to hear him explain and/or justify this latest nonsense.

Emery, I live for your bizarre non-sequitur posts. :)
Jason, yours too.
What? You were *serious*?

Just to be clear-while the overall storyline is JMS (which i am not sure has been fully revealed yet-we can assume some kind of transformation "Evolve or Die" is the tagline, and a new costume, provied by Tony Stark), he did not write this ultimate issue. That was Reginald Hudlin (of House Party fame and BET). I am not sure whose idea the eye thing was.

I found out by jumping into my old Iron Man armor and using Dr. Doom's time machine to travel into the future.

No, JMS didn't write the issue of Amazing - but he did write FNSM #3. If JMS wants to write Wolverine, he should probably write Wolverine comics - instead of morphing Spider-Man into some half-ass version.

Also, from what I understand, this 12 part story originated with JMS. He provided the arc for this crapfest and is writing the final chapters. Me, I think that speaks volumes.

At this point I find it comical. I hope the changes continue, so all of JMS's work can be safely quarrantined from the rest of Spider-Man's continuity.

I'm glad DC is finally fixing the toys they broke back in the '90s. Marvel, however, is stomping on said toys and then setting fire to them. And then ripping out their eyes.
