It's just goofy (scary) comic-book violence and kids love it. How could
a face crunch with mumbled speech following be ok but an eyeball yank
not be?
Because for there is no way anyone can
bite off a person's entire face. That's about as realistic someone
swallowing a whole elephant. But to pull out an eyeball? People do that
to each other in the real world.

I picked up recent issue of BOTD (the one with heads getting ripped of
right and left, neck sockets in full view) and was quite shocked.
I wouldn't let my children read it. I think BOTD has gone over
the top with the violent depictions. I'm not a reader of it but I don't
think it's good manners to come to this board (hosted by JB) and tell
JB off.
So we can at least criticize excessive violence on a book that JB does not draw.

On an unrelated Glenn Greenberg note, I was rereading some Captain Americas from the mid-late 1990s and, looking through the Bullpen Bulletins or whatever they were called at the time, noted that he wrote both Star Trek (which I knew) and Dracula (which I did not know) for Marvel at the time. For some reason, I thought that was cool.
The Amazing Cyclopean Spider-man is pretty stinky, on the other hand. Really tired of maimed heroes. Tired of heroes who never have fun when they are heroes. However, I'm sure Dr. Connors will whip Spider-man up a fake eye that Spider-man can use to spy on people when he's not even in the room. The mechanical eye could sprout legs and run around on its own to scope stuff out. He could even have different eyes for different situations. The eye could have its own book, The Amazing Spider-eye. Sweet!
Cheers, Jon

Also, how is the Demon biting a person's face off unrealistic? Is there some guidebook to what demons can and can't do when it comes to human faces? I mean, Etrigan's a big yellow demon who shoots fire out of his mouth. But the face thing, well, that's just ridiculous. Real demons can't do that. Hunh?
Cheers, Jon

Forget the cannibalism.
I like it out totally defacing and mutilating MARVEL'S BIGGEST CHARACTER EVER(!) is business as usual.
Can't wait for Spider-Man: Middle East. Caught thieving. Hands off. Finally he'll have to shoot web out his ass like a real world arachnid.
Now that's realism, toots.

Dude. Like. The book is called Blood of the Demon!
Blood? Demon? Blood of the Demon?
Amazing Spider-Man is a (or was) a family brand, idolised by thousands of kids, in movies, in cartoons...

Apparently, M***** has decided it needs it's own 'rape' story as well (SPOILERS) Black Cat gets raped in the Kevin Smith mini (END SPOILERS).

The weird thing about that page, Joe, is -- when did Morlun start looking like the offspring of Morbius and Rune?

The new Marvel, going where pornographers fear to tread.

Well, I was going to comment on how lame ass this whole "eye thing" is,
but what's the point? Does M***** listen to or even care what its
audience thinks anymore?

The rape story is not even original. It was done first (involving
Black Canary) by DC with THE LONGBOW HUNTERS back in 1987
