Andrew Bitner:

At some point, there'll be a Marvel version of the Crisis and we'll see what
comes of it...

=====

Around the time of Crisis, Mark Gruenwald remarked that as long as Marvel
was smart, the company would never need a Crisis to sort any problems out.
So much for being smart...

The chief difference between Marvel and DC used to be, at least so far a the kind of fans they attracted, that Marvel cajoled the fans into "playing along" with continuity glitches, while DC (without really meaning to) encouraged fans to obsess over them. DC had "The Flash of Two Worlds", Marvel had the No-Prize.

Nuff said!

So the Ultimate Universe really is JB's fault!

Marvel is 25 years younger than DC, so that must count for something as well, right? Marvel is now almost at the same point DC used to be when the original Crisis took place and the cries for a Marvel Crisis event just keep on piling up....

Rob, I can understand and appreciate your position.  One of my problems with following the adventures of Ultimate Spider-Man is that he is a part of the Ultimate Universe, where none of the characters are "real" versions of themselves.  Why not return the title character in the original titles to that state and play with aging and otherwise distorted versions of the characters in the Ultimate alternate reality?

I don't read Ultimate Spider-man myself.

(1) It was too slow for me to read issue by issue-thought I appreciate the fact the same team has stayed on it all this time (and i think on schedule???)

(2) I already collect too many Spider-man as it is.

(3) I didn't particularly want to play spot the twist on old characters.  But then, I'll always have Geldorf.

At this point I only read the Ultimates-because I think it is pretty different than the Avengers.

I'm ope to real universe stories set when Spider-man was younger though-I enjoyed Spider-man/Human Torch (sort of a through the years, you've never let me down sort of book).

Had JB and Howard Mackie done the reset, I probably would've jumped for good though. That was my problem with Ben Reilly when in my horror I realized that he was actually ging to replace Peter Parker-I didn't want a reset.  I just wanted some good stories, and it had been a few years at that point.

If John had done the "reset" the fanboys would have had him killed!

While I am sure you are joking, given the reaction to the Doom Patrol, I am afraid it comes closer to the truth than I would like to think about.

Stéphane Garrelie:
Then anybody that disagree with you is an idiot?

I'll put this use of "idiot" and "stupid" on the well known Byrne temper and wont call it a "bad Byrne story". But frankly that wasn't very kind.

Actually, Stephane, I think JB has been extremely kind and patient with you until now. But your argument about being a policeman being the same as someone who risks the lives of his loved ones--and shirks his own responsibilties--was so far off-base, and so dramatically missed the point, that I think his comment to you was most likely an impressive show of restraint.
