He [Superman] should be physically imposing and
dominate every panel he's in.
+++
Why?
****
BECAUSE HE'S GODDAMN SUPERMAN!!!!

"BECAUSE HE'S GODDAMN SUPERMAN!!!! "
You can't get a more definitive, argument ending answer than that! :>

I kind of agree with the implications of James's question. To me,
Wonder Woman has always been more grounded in the physical than
Superman. [Edited to say: That's part of why she wears an armored
breastplate, carries a spear, or deflects attacks with her
bracelets.] That's part of why Morrison's description of Superman
in the article
being discussed so much over in the All-Star Superman thread sounded so
intriguing to me. He's totally relaxed; it's all
effortless. For some reason, it makes sense to think of Wonder
Woman as just having really strong muscles, while with Superman there's
something else going on (the power of the yellow sun). Even
though I know the inverse is sort of true, Superman just feels more
magical and like he transcends physical existence.
Superman doesn't need to be bigger than anybody else for you to get the
sense that he's dominating every panel and every room he's in (he is
bigger than most people, but that's almost beside the point).
[Edited to say: He dominates the panel because he's Goddam Superman!
rather than because he's bigger or towers over people.]
Anyway, those are just my thoughts on the subject. My platonic
ideal of WW is Perez's, but there are also things in the Adam Hughes
and Alex Ross versions, for instance, that I find convincing.

Don't know if she can act a wit, but going by looks alone (not that any studio ever should, mind you), I say that THIS is wonder woman.

With a red wig I could see Ms Paganelli as Artemis.
However, I think she lacks the regal, elegant
qualities Diana needs.
(Also, aren't those pictures about 10 years old?)

A younger Jennifer Tilly with the body she has now would work... in an SNL comedy sketch about Wonder Woman.
What about Catherine Zeta-Jones?

They may be -- I'll have to check.
OT: How about Kim Paul as Power Girl (these could be old, too -- don't know):

I'd heard someone mention somewhere the actress that plays Inara on
Firefly, Morena Baccarin, would make a good Diana. Any thoughts?

She's only, like, 5' 2" or something. A little itty bitty thing. As Zatanna, I
could see the edibly hot Ms. Baccarin in a heartbeat. As Wonder Woman? Eh.

Thank you, JB. I'm at work, and I swear too much every day; by stepping in there and saying just what I was about to, you've saved my soul that much da--rn-nation.

I still like Katherine Hiegl as Wonder Woman. 5' 9" and has "the look" for me.
Plus, I just plain like her.
