I recall reading that, many years ago, Mort Walker submitted a "Beetle Bailey" strip showing Ms. Buxley's navel.  Editors [?] promptly excised the offending dot prior to publication. Walker then made it a point to get her navel published, even going to the lengths of giving her two navels one one occasion.

By the way:  Blondie --- VA-VOOM!  (I know, just lines on paper)

Does Dagwood have Wolverine hair, or does Wolverine have Dagwood hair?

We had a "dirty album" here, by the real artist, no parody, I couldn't believe it. But they were not considered appropriate for the papers so therefore they went into the dirty album. Some strips I remember (I'm sorry if I get the characters names wrong, we have other names for them, Swedish names):

General Halftrack: This seat is hot.

Other person: Miss Bagley sat right there just before you.

General Halftrack: I just came.

Another strip is with the cook (I guess) and he couldn't find his schampoo. Schassen (don't know what you call him) steps out of the shower with fluffy pubic hair.

When it comes to Blondie, some years ago when I was working in the comics business some people went to conventions and stuff, I never did, there was the artist, son of the original creator I guess at one time, anyway, he (the son) had a wife and everybody almost died when they showed up. From what I heard she looked exactly like Blondie, hair style, everything.

Sweden (and Finland too - I remember seeing it at stores right next to Donald Duck and all the other kid comics) got an album of unpublished Beetle Bailey strips that contained sexual jokes.

I wonder if those really early Blondie strips have ever been republished anywhere.

Yes, it was even too dirty for my taste. As Taavi pointed out it was standing there in the rack next to Donald Duck &C.o. I wonder what the kids siad if they accidently got their parents to buy it "Mom, what does that guy have there between his legs?" But this is Sweden, nobody cares.
