I agree with Eric. My favorite is the "What if the Avengers had become pawns of Korvac?" It was an awesome story, and I think it ends with Korvac using the ultimate nullifyer to destroy the whole universe.

The Korvac one is great because we get to see the Ultimate Nullifier used not
once, but twice. Man, that comic was thrilling.
I say Marvel should bring What If back. The inaugural issue? "What If Marvel
Never Hired Quesada?"
And it's a single-issue story that ships on time...

I loved the comedy What If? issue. That's my favorite. I
also loved the What if The Invisible Woman Died in Childbirth? I
actually cried when I read it.

I don't remember the issue, but it was a story by Busiek and Immonen where Flash Thompson becomes Spider-Man instead of Peter. Flash acts like a villain, so Peter must stop him using a spider exo skeleton.

Kevin - that What If? #29 that you show there? It's not worth reading, but it's a MUST-HAVE as it's got JB art in it...
But it's ONE PANEL! (Of Zeus!)
Still...worth getting... it's a GOOD panel!

Now, if I had read the whole thread first, I would have seen that Brain already answered that for me, so...
Sorry Brian!!

My favorites were:
What If The HULK had Bruce Banner' s rational thinking.
What If the FF did not gain their super powers.
and What If Uncle Ben had Lived.

Looks like I see the Shaper of Worlds up there on that Korvac issue (got to get my hands on one of those!) Poor old Shaper. He's one of those old Cosmic Beings who seem to have fallen out of favor as they have proliferated. I'm sure anyone here can easily rattle off about twenty of them. Good old Shaper made possible quite the visuals on the old Batman Vs. the Hulk crossover issue from the early 80's.

Armored Avengers for me as well. I read that one till it fell apart.
But I also liked these:

I LOVED the covers that Miller was doing all over the line at the time. But the story seemed extremely rushed.
![](uploads/WesWescovich/2005-08-09_201426_2410_2_28.jpg)
Fantastic story structure here and well done in a fairly short piece. I also loved the fact that the art was dead-on to what was in Daredevil at the time.

I hated the whole second series with its cryptic, character name only covers, but this one started the ball rolling on what is now the only M***** comic I still buy.

My favourite What Ifs:
What If... "The Avengers Had Never Been" (3)
What If... "The Invaders Fought Beyond WWII" (4)
What If... "Four Other People were Nova" (15)
What If... "Ghost Rider, Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel were Villians" (17)
What If..."Dr. Strange was a Disciple of Dormammu" (18)
What If..."Phoenix Had Not Died" (27)
What If..."The Avengers Defeated Everybody" (29)
What If..."Elektra Had Lived"(35)
...and the comedy one. Wish I could remember the title and issue number of it.
As for M****l reviving the series, I doubt most of the current writers
and editors there would actually have the skill to do a proper
What If story as they would actually be required to pay attention to
continuity for a change.
