But I do understand that this forum has something of a reputation when it comes to religious discussion…

It does?

Like a lot of things, perhaps the reputation is unearned.

I don't believe this forum is seen as being particularly kind towards those who put their faith in the Great Sky Daddy. Or maybe a better way to put it would be to say that there isn't a lot of tolerance for the concept of faith itself?

I mean, would you feel maligned if someone came here and said the forum is hostile towards MAGA? Because by my reckoning, there often isn't much of a difference between fundamentalist Christians and MAGATs.

Maybe it's like the analogy about the Nazi Bar. A guy was hanging out in a bar when he saw someone come in, politely order a drink, and be soon thereafter berated and chased out of the bar by the bartender. When the guy asked the bartender what happened, he was told: "Sure, that guy was quiet and polite, but he was a nazi. If we let him drink here, before long he'd come back with a friend or two, who would be quiet and polite, and if we let them drink here, before long they'd all be coming back with more friends, and then this would be a Nazi Bar. They always start out quiet and polite. Tolerance changes that."

People may have left of their own accord because of the general anti-faith/pro-reason attitudes often espoused in the Forum, but I don’t think anyone has ever been “chased out”.

Their own perception may be different, of course.
