My house is something of a haven for mice during the winter months. I see less of them as it warms up outside, but the Orkin guy still lays snap traps. (I don’t allow glue.) Came and set a bunch of new ones earlier this week.

Well, my house cleaner, here for her biweekly visit, just found a sprung trap under the kitchen sink. A mommy mouse who’d given birth.

There seems to be an increase of mice in houses where we live this winter.
Lots of us in the church have been reporting mice, and really struggling to
get rid of them.
We definitely had a rat die in our walls over winter. The room stunk and we
couldn’t find where the body was.

We have had the occasional signs of mice behind the
kickboards under the kitchen units. The dog going hyper
is usually a good sign,so we put traps under there. Last
year there was a rotten smell, we checked under there,
nothing. Checked the kitchen bin in case it needed
cleaning/emptying and the veg rack in case anything was
on the turn. No!
Then my wife got a teatowel out of the drawer and she
asked me to smell it. It smelt a bit musty. I asked if
she thought she may have put it back slightly damp after
washing it, she said it was possible, so decided to wash
it again, but then smelt the next one, which was the same
but slightly stonger. Long story short, after pulling
half a dozen out, we came across a dead putrefying mouse!
So we binned the teatowels!

My mother had a mouse who would come to sit by her in the kitchen as she did the dishes.  She eventually didn't even mind as it was "cute."

Not “cute” but friends of my mother had a “pet” spider. Not truly domesticated, it would show up every evening as they sat watching television. It would make its way from one side of their sitting room to the other, and disappear under the skirting boards.
