It's a long story but basically we were owned by American company Tyco and all was brilliant. Then some head honcho embezzled money and the group was sold to a less than reputable group owned by a Lord. His peerage was bought by donating a LOT of money to The Labour party. The group went into administration in the October, we found out via the news. The administrators closed struggling factories and put up for sale the thriving one's. The beginning of the week before Christmas i asked in a meeting and was specifically told we had numerous interested buyers and as we had a full order book even if we weren't bought immediately, as long as we were making money they would continue to keep us open. Then the day we broke up, we were told that was it, we were not coming back after Christmas. There's a lot more to the story, the owner ring-fencing his billions, one of his sons who was nominally in charge of the group committing suicide, false expense claims of £30,000 to the House of Lords, pensions in other companies vanishing. But it all weny hush hush. He's dead now, but i definitely think he used his political conections to evade justice. It was a shame cos we were highly skilled specialists in our field.
