I loved Vigilante as Titans loving teen. With distance it strilkes me just how amazingly '80s skier his costume is! Ha!

Here's Marshall Rogers' version of SPIDER-MAN, THE THING, X-MEN, and THE BEAST solo!

Outside of the cuffs, Vigilante looks like George Perez tried to design a John Byrne character*
*Yes, I know the tale that this was actually the case for Baron Blood.

That Vigilante design looks like something Gil Kane would have come up with (this is a good thing).

Well, JB has said that his own costume sensibilities were very much inspired by Gil Kane, and you could completely see it.
On Christopher Priest's blog, he once erroneously credited JB as being Iron Fist's creator, which is a mistake that I could forgive him for, because Kane's Iron Fist design DOES look like something that JB could have come up with.

Here's a weird one--Marshall Rogers on Superman and "Popeye"...inked by Jerry Ordway?!? I love Ordway, but he's not the guy to put on the fine lines of Rogers.

A few more Marshall Rogers--
Sgt. Fury
The Shadow
Star Wars
Marshall Rogers illustrated Don McGregor's great graphic novel DETECTIVES, INC. Here he is on McGregor's other big character SABRE!

Took another glance through the thread, and realized that mid-70s Kirby drew Spider-Man's costume in a strange way (just based on the posted pencils from that 70s calendar, and remembering a few other instances where the chest emblem just isn't there).
Any idea on why he drew the character that way?
