I picked up a few late '70s Comics Journals and one has a story on "Ditko Returns To Marvel" and it mentions him being assigned a Godzilla inventory story. This never was published, not as a Godzilla comic at least... could it have been altered once Marvel no longer had any rights to publish the big G? Did it become that one Dragon Lord story in Marvel Spotlight? Or the Fantastic Four annual perhaps? I have the one-off Daredevil, Captain Marvel and Hulks he did at this time, would have been great to see him on Godzilla as he did quite a nice job on Charlton's Gorgo, what little I've seen of his version.

I've also gotten into those Robin Snyder books with Ditko contents... some of the older comics in B&W look like they were from the original art! Besides the Renegade comics the ones Snyder printed in smaller runs really look excellent and I have a new appreciation for his inking, especially on some of the later '80s-'90s stories!

Yes, the Ditko-drawn Dragon Lord story in Marvel Spotlight was originally a Godzilla story, and it was rewritten after Marvel lost the rights to the character.

Here's a link to an unpublished Ditko cover. I think it was originally drawn for Godzilla and modified for Dragon Lord.

Thanks! That must be what would've been the Godzilla cover modified but then not used as it was Frank Miller on the Marvel Spotlight issue (and it's a really good one).
