Ok I’m out. I can’t go past “Jim Shooter famously gave the mandate JEAN
GREY MUST DIE.” Do some fucking research.

As most of you know, Shooter called for Jean to be “taken to a prison asteroid to be horribly tortured for all eternity.” Which sounded to me like a particularly misogynistic Legion of Superheroes story.

And when CC told me this, I said “F*** that, I’d rather kill her!”

@JB: depending on your cardiac health, I'd STRONGLY recommend you avoid the Strange Brain Parts YT review that went up yesterday. It's equal parts missing the point, revisionist history, and character assassination.

In other news, the fate of a certain member of the Hellfire Club is infinitely more satisfying in Elsewhen, than in the latest X-Men one-shot.

Foolish to admit this—just arming the trolls—but something that is really getting up my nose is the comments from uninformed people who reject my statement that ELSEWHEN happened just for fun, and insist on burrowing into the work to find bitterness and “revenge”.

Much of this seems to emerge from the dummies—yes I said it—who can’t grasp the simple idea that ELSEWHEN is in no sense meant as commentary on what was going on in the X-Men after I left. It simply is what it is—something I did for my own amusement. Fun!

I am seeing comments too from people who seem to have learned a few phrases without actually understanding them. “No character development” is a repeated complaint. This obviously comes from those who are again seeking parallels. They know what happened in the real books, and they expect to see it reflected in ELSEWHEN.

If what’s been happening—and continues to happen—with Jean (and Scott) doesn’t qualify as “character development” I don’t know what does. It’s just not following the arc(s) they already know.

Humph!!
