JB - I take it that this is one of those scenes where (paraphrasing here), "you hurt the one's you love"? ;-)

••

On that note, I'm remembering a few (very few!) letters I received over the years, from readers who wanted me to LEAVE various books, because I "obviously" didn't like the characters. After all, why else would I subject them to such misery??

Roger Stern used to say of one particular writer that his stories could sometimes be kinda dull because he couldn’t bring himself to do anything mean to the characters.

Ha!

I love how Scott looks in that last panel after a brief stint as a Spawn of Cthulhu.

Thanks again for uncorking these.

The look on "Jean"'s face in today's last panel... just perfection!

Of all the plot threads that may/may not go unresolved, THIS is the one that is going to keep me awake at night most - because I love Scott and Jean so much (when they are written "right").

(Meant entirely as a compliment - I fully respect that you will not be taking this forwards any further, and am just grateful for seeing each one of these "extra" pages).

As I mentioned, I will be filling in details with text and art fragments, so with any luck we’ll get to the “end” of all this!

Last couple of pages, fantastic.
Such a command of and comfort level with the macabre and the divine.  < id="protanopia"> < id="deuteranopia"> < id="tritanopia">
Great combination of broad strokes and fine details.

Also: "ZUSSH" - a comics sound-effect 'first'? Appropriately 'squidgy'!

Onomatopoeia-tastic. :-)

With your announcement that you may be retired for good after all, JB, there is something so special about getting these last remaining pages and story / art snippets...A mixture of happy and sad I guess... But thank you for so much fun and awe for so many years. It's been a hell of a ride !
