With multiple She-Hulk threads floating around, I thought
I'd go ahead and bump my own to mention that I finally
acquired JB's Omnibus over the weekend - and what a beaut
of a collection. Not only that, I ended up getting it at
the American cover price due to a HalCon related promotion
at Strange Adventures in Halifax, so double yay!

I’m immediately reminded of when I was a kid in Canada, buying MAD magazine. The cover would say “Our Price 25¢ CHEAP. 35¢ in Canada, not so cheap”.

Book prices are still a real stomach-dropping example of
the exchange rate - that She-Hulk book has a 125 US price
vs 158 Canadian. Just nauseating. And it would be even
worse now if those prices were updated to current rates!

Still remember the wallop to my wallet when comics went from 10 to 12 cents—not to mention the length the publishers went to, apologizing for the increase.

Once that 2 cent jump happened, the price rises became a relentless fact of life. When I started working in comics the cover price was 35¢, as I recall, having stopped briefly at 15, 20, 25 and 30 along the way. Other magazines rose as much, and more, but it was comics that caught the flak. We’d so thoroughly ghetto-ized ourselves as “cheap”.

I've been driving myself nuts as to whether I should pick up the omnibus. It's got the graphic novel in it (which I never got a chance to read and would really like to do) but it's also a big chunk of change.

Question for those who have it: did they retain the original coloring for the graphic novel reprint? That is, the specific reprinting of the Marvel Graphic Novel #18?

Curious thing about She-Hulk. When there were negative fan reactions to the humor and fourth wall breaking—mostly before they’d seen anything published—the effect was quite liberating. Basically it allowed me to say “**** you” to the gripers and proceed on my merry way.

Until an entirely different roadblock fell across my path.

The D+ series took your lead, and did that exact thing in the final episode.

Umm...I hate to break it to you, but the first six issues of IRON FIST were 25¢.  And MARVEL PREMIERE #25, and MARVEL CHILLERS #6, and the first five issues of DOOMSDAY + 1...

Dave K - I can't speak to the graphic novel colouring, as I
didn't own a copy back in the day, but over all, the whole
package is absolutely worth it.
