Good grief. Imagine MISERY as a story about a bitter "Byrne Victim" and... well, it's scary to imagine being the target of the intense "fan"atics who are so easy to come by on the internet.

In an unfathomable series of events I found myself having dinner with Keith Pollard a few days ago (a story for another time), he told me that his cover for Spider-Man #186 was used in SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE and didn't even receive a thanks. Yet he did receive a check for AGENTS of SHIELD which he wasn't sure why.

Remembering again when Mike Zeck and I grew weary of Marvel using our work as clip art, and asked for some kind of appropriate recompense. The response was that it was impossible for them to keep track of all the uses, but if we wanted to try to do it ourselves and submit vouchers, maybe we’d get paid. A far cry from the statements I receive from Disney, dozens of pages with hundreds of entries, mostly for a few cents each. Thank you, Peggy Lee!

JB, here’s a silly question: you haven’t worked at Marvel for a bit, how do they know how to contact you? Is there a ‘phone list’ that floats around the Bullpen with your info on it?

That's also what the Hollywood Reporter reported when Devin Grayson and J.G Jones found about when they received checks from Marvel:
" When she co-created Yelena, Grayson knew Marvel would own the character. But like many creators before her, she signed a contract known as a Special Character Agreement, one that outlines a Marvel-initiated payment system should Yelena appear in other media."
One of the many "black boxes" that exists in entertainment accounting.
