A good friend of my wife and mine is a huge She-Hulk fan. (She's a bit envious that I have five pages of JB's original art.) Over dinner, we discussed She-Hulk and my wife said she hadn't read the book. I lent her a compilation--and she's looked through it and said, "Wow, this looks really good..."
New fans are made all the time. I hope the show will be good but the comic stories themselves continue to find new audiences. Thanks, JB!

During my time on SHE-HUK I was most gratified to receive a fair amount of mail from female readers. In most cases, they said it was their boyfriends who were the actual collectors, but they had been persuaded to check out the issues and were very pleased with what they found.

Of particular interest to me was the number of she-fans who said how much they liked the way I drew Jennifer's breasts. They were large, yes, but they moved like real breasts, not like rock hard nosecones glued to the character's chest.

You know, having recently re-read X-Men Elsewhen, the way you draw the breasts of various characters really impressed me on my second read through. Two instances in particular, even more than others, really stood out to me. On the page where Storm explores the attic in the abandoned mansion in the alternate timeline, her breasts have a realistic "sag" to them with an outward orientation, respectively, to the left and right. And despite the care you clearly take to draw each character's breasts differently, in the scene in which we see Jean's mom wearing the Phoenix costume, it appears to me that there is a significant similarity to way you depict the mother and daughter's breasts, just similar enough to indicate the relation, but different enough to account for individuality and age.

And here I thought I drew Elaine's breasts completely differently from Jeans!

Several years ago, I was lending out whole comic runs to friends and family. I didn’t keep close track of who had what, but they were people close to me and I eventually got the comics back. Except for She-Hulk 40. That one disappeared somewhere along the way.

I have those issues in storage, but have purchased collected editions here and there when I want to reread the stories.
The friend mentioned above became a fan when she saw SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK on the stands and told her mom, "Look, she's GREEN!" Love at first sight. She has also mentioned several times how much she hopes the showrunners "get it right" and also use some of JB's story and approach as a template--which it seems they're likely to do. (How well they do it we'll soon see.)
And count me among those who appreciate your attention to physics, gravity and anatomy. Breasts (absent implants) simply don't behave like they're saline-stuffed balloons.

SO much of my notoriety seems to be based on things I actually DIDN'T write, draw or say!

This page from issue #41 was an amusing way to follow up on the supposed 'cheesecake' aspect of the series....

For a thick and vocal slice of fandom, my interpretation of She-Hulk was very hard to swallow. These were the ones who had convinced themselves—if only subconsciously in most cases—that the characters and stories were real, and who expected a dead-serious approach at every turn.

A funny—and frustrating—thing about Those People was the way they took everything as real yet, when something bad happened to the characters, knew who to blame. When Chris and I were doing UNCANNY, and torturing and tormenting the characters every issue, there were so many letters from aggrieved fans who wanted us to stop being so mean to their friends and, yes, loved ones.

Many a time I was confronted at conventions by fans who were angry and anguished. I would do what I could to point out to them that they could not have it both ways. Either the characters were real, in which case those of us who worked on the books were merely reporting what happened (a bit of the mythology Stan and Jack had set in place), or it was all make believe, and nothing happened that we didn’t make happen.

"Never give the fans what they THINK they want."

Was that Stan or you who said that, JB? ;)

Stan said it to me, and I’m sure others.

There are many too many Annie Wilkeses among fans...
