Sliding into the New World now, and finding one adjustment being having to have things—my iPhone, for instance—eighteen inches or so from my eyes in order to see them clearly.
Quite a change after decades of my close-up range being just a few inches beyond the tip of my nose.
My eyes seem to be adjusting almost hour to hour. Over the past two weeks I’ve been experimenting with various old spare glasses. Yesterday a friend gave me a pair of those slightly magnifying readers found in most drugstores. This morning, I’m going without anything.
Speaking as someone who's needed glasses since first grade, if you could now in the late of summer of life [delusional well-wishes] not need glasses anymore... c’est merveilleux !
