And these days, since anyone with an internet connection and a keyboard can call themselves a critic, some measure of lunacy is bound to surface and should be dismissed.
Having said that, I'm sure the majority of feedback from those aware has been more than positive.
Several such were in a CBR thread from the early days of ELSEWHEN. Quite a few John Byrne = Great Satan posts—tho those typically came from the Byrne Bashers who can only squawk their criticism without offering supporting evidence.
Considering what happened to Marvel's characters over the past thirty years or even more, under the aegis of Marvel itself -- who's to say what's "real" or not...?!
Sadly, Marvel still holds the (ahem) trump card when it comes to claiming what’s “real” and what isn’t. They OWN the characters.
Also, there is the unavoidable fact that many comic fans have no sense of history, and consider only what they are reading NOWA AS “real”. (Recall the outrage over my portrayal of Magneto in XHY. There he was not the “freedom fighter” that was the only version they knew.*)

Great story arc but i am disappointed you changed Proteus to Dark Phoenix after fans 'guessed' that plot point. It amazes me how after all this time JB still is thin skinned when it comes to online criticism.
just as bad was changing Lord Deathstrike to Dr. Kane - i mean who cares if people guessed his identity. The irony is fans online have now linked Dr. Kane to Kane - Weapon X character from X-Force created by Rob Liefeld - LOL you played yourself JB.

No idea where you got this from, but you are misinformed. Proteus was not part of this story at any point.
(Word of advice: ASK before mounting that high horse.)

Also note how you avoided the Kane/Lord Deathstrike reveal - pretty telling.
You would think after all these years you would be immune to criticism but i guess not...sad.
Also - your Magneto retcons really smack of juvenile fan fic. The WW2 survivor Mags has been embraced in popular culture (the movies and cartoons!) - seen by millions of people. Your weird retcons just seem childish - as does your constant jabs at Claremont. Act more professional ok ? I mean no need to truly embrace the FAN part of this fanfic phase of your career..lol
