Both are arrogant and conceited—in Doom’s case his greatest weaknesses—but Magneto is without even a trace of nobility.

Nice distinction/explanation, John.

I was just thinking about their differences when I got to
this part of the chat. It started with how much better
than others you write magneto, but how much better still I
like/prefer Dr. Doom.

In my opinion, he is the greatest comic book villain ever.

No debate there. It’s pretty much DOOM——-and then everybody else.

Agreed.

I recently shared somewhere here on the board that Doom is Marvel's #1 villain. (And since Marvel at it's best is better than the rest...)

As far as today's page goes... I'm glad that the Wolverine bashing didn't continue. Even with his mutant healing ability, Logan deserves a respite.

Speaking of Doom, this:

DOOM QUOTES

But how comprehensive is a list that omits Stan’s classic “Defeat with honor is merely victory delayed,” and Archie Goodwin’s “Many demons rule Victor von Doom, but not those of pettiness or fear.”

For arrogance/confidence beyond reason I'd go... Doom, Namor, ... big gap ... Magneto.  Magneto has felt out of his league (as seen a few pages ago by Doom) but Doom never has and it is very, very rare for Namor to admit weakness of any kind.  Part of what made the original FF #6 so fun to read, and should work well here too.

I like how Heather looks so happy about the gift. And how Logan looks like the rough version we saw in his early appearances - no soft edges, just a mean man no sane person would want to be on the wrong side of.  Kitty stepping up to try to help Pablo with 'patience' is nice to see.  She is probably the only one Pablo would listen to other than his mom on that front.

Wow! I keep going back to panel one on today's page. It has a three dimensional quality that I've never seen on a comic book page before; Wolverine's legs, face and fist/claws all seem to leap off the page, while simultaneously, in effect, occupying different depths. I have no idea whether it's composition or technique, or a combination of both, that creates the effect, but like I said, I've never seen anything like it, and it's darn impressive!

I expect that “3D” effect would disappear if the page was inked with solid blacks.

More wonderful stuff, thank you!

Today's page reminds me of that old joke:
Q: How do you keep a fool in suspense? A: I'll tell you tomorrow.
It's such a pleasure to see pages of such high quality with the principles of storytelling so clearly in evidence.

Welcome to the party, Logan!

Reading some ELSEWHEN “reviews”, and once again puzzled by those who seem to want to wring a Big Bad Byrne story out of this not being a “real” series thru Marvel.

Over the decades I have come to accept that there are fans who will slice their demands thinner and thinner, but I am mystified by those getting their panties in knots because they don’t have to PAY for this!
