Logan is 5’5”, but I draw him about 5’2” for emphasis.

The slow claw - do you see his claws as having multiple speeds he can extend them?  Not a big point, just curious.

I had to read your post 3-4 times. I kept reading that as “cole slaw”.

Based on what I drew, what are you asking?

The sound effect in the third panel works well to highlight the willpower needed to release one claw while holding the others back.  I imagine it would not be a comfortable experience.

Hm. I don’t see Wolverine’s control of his claws being any more difficult than wiggling his fingers.

I agree -- I've always assumed he has considerable control.

I expect the sensation is different if he extends slowly versus quickly.  (Like the difference between pulling off a band-aid slowly versus quickly -- but at a different order of magnitude of pain.)

A bizarre moment:

Not yet officially attached to the X-Men, I was already thinking about how I might handle the characters, given the chance, when they appeared briefly in my early days on MARVEL TEAM-UP. There I decided to play with an idea I’d had about Wolverine’s claws, to wit that in moments of tension they would begin to “peek out” of the sheaths.

I drew this effect in one panel, and—wait for it!—a big SNIKT was added. The result was a small avalanche of letters insisting I stay forever away from the character, since I clearly didn’t know how he “worked”.

Ha. Maybe I should have read my post aloud before submitting it.

JB, has the way you draw hair on Wolverine's arms and legs changed over time? if you were to draw Puck now, would you use the same technique for drawing the hair on his limbs as you do for Logan's?
