JB you started work on this issue while you were trying to decide where to start issue 14 and it was originally meant to appear earlier in the run. How far did you get into the issue back then and did you have to make any changes when you resumed working on it?••• There were only minor changes. Getting Xavier back in his “futuristic” wheelchair was one. And removing Jean from a scene that no longer fit the way her part of the story was unfolding.

I think for JB fans of a certain age, DANGER UNLIMITED is the big career what-if. That book could have had longevity like HELLBOY! There's an alternative reality out there where DU is on issue #321.

JB: "BTW, Tim, you may have fond memories of DANGER UNLIMITED, but I remind you that series crashed and burned, scuttled by the retailers who slashed their orders to the bone even before the first issue shipped."
***
It is true that I have rose colored glasses for DANGER UNLIMITED because those few issues were so terrific, but I suggest it here because its untimely demise was one of the first titles to suffer under the sickness of the direct sales market. You did a great introduction to the Dark Horse collection pointing this out, and it proved to be prescient insight into a failing system. You were one of the first to be vocal about the DSM.
Now that the problems of the direct sales market are apparent to everyone, I think its return would be a appropriate bookend to reflect on how it suffered an abrupt and undeserved cancellation, but can now come back as a webcomic that goes directly to fans.

Excellent Shaman page. Is panel 2 an Adams? I’m seeing some Wrightson there, as well.

Oh this page is superb. Even if this issue is as close as we ever get to Alpha Flight Elsewhen then I will still be very happy and grateful. Great pencils JB.

Today's final panel reminds me of this gang of monsters from FF #1.

JB, this invites a question with Shaman's arrival-- how do you approach magic and what it can do? It seems like this, maybe more than most super abilities, requires some forethought.
