"Stand fast ,varlets! Avengers blood is upon thine hands......and terrible justice is nigh!"
The dialogue is so in sync with the character and the mood Thor is in. Great stuff!

Fortunately for our heroes, they know how to throw a punch themselves.
Juggernaut. Dark Phoenix. Proteus. Imperial Guard. Alpha Flight. Our guys (and gals) know how to stick & move, so I wouldn't call it a completely untenable sitchiation.
Not gonna be a walk in the park, though...

If these count as Asgardian Avengers, they are truly avenging something... possibly the most logical use of the name to date.

Makes me wish the Thor Annual that Walter Simonson was cooking up, for JB to draw, came to fruition.
********
What’s this, now?
********
Walter talks about it somewhere in this interview: (408) AARON CON! 2021 DAY 2 : SPECIAL GUESTS: WALTER AND LOUISE SIMONSON! - YouTube
I think it's around the hour mark. He and Weezie are discussing how the industry has become increasingly corporate and how books are now decided by committee.

To quote Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap: “Oh boy…”
Nice to see the Asgard quartet -especially Sif (hey I likes the Byrne ladies, so sue me) but yeesh! Like Thor needs backup… Looks like our heroes once again have the odds stacked against them.
Great stuff!

Thanks for the link, Rod. Walter talked about the proposed annual around 55 minutes in.

No problem.
Looking at the last panel of Sif and The Warriors Three, reminds of Len Wein and John Buscema's Thor run in the late 70s.

Some nice match-ups there. The Hogun panel is giving me strong John Buscema vibes.

It must be SO cool to be John Byrne. Art, writing, and imagination! Each issue is just getting better and better. Thanks again for taking us on the ride!

I, for one, am quite pleased that they are being rash and not sitting down and talking this all out like reasonable folks.
Who doesn't enjoy a good hero vs. hero tussle!?! :P
Hurray for misunderstandings!
I get a hint of Franzetta in today's battle illustrations. Nice!
EDIT: Two thoughts: 1) Trying to parry Cyclops' optic blast must be like trying to stop someone from looking at parts of your body. 2) Does Cyclops always look so cool because his costume is shaded in such an appealing manner?

Love page 10. So nice to see classic marvel characters in action.
Thanks for posting that interview, Rod. It does boggle the mind that any publisher would balk at a Walt Simonson written book with John Byrne doing the art let alone a Thor book.
